Celebrities Skin Tips

I particularly like this post from Porcelain Face Spa's blog, so am sharing it.

Molly Sims
Molly Sims (39 Year Old) is an American model and actress. Sims is best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues and her role as Delinda Deline in the NBC drama Las Vegas. She is also an ambassador for Friends of El Faro.

1. They do it themselves.
Molly Sims make her own concoction. “I mix honey and moisturizer and put it all over my face. It’s a great exfoliant. I leave it on a few minutes and wash it off.” A lot of top Hollywood dermatologists insist that natural and simply way to go. Most of them recommend dry oatmeal as a natural scrub and a simple egg mask.
Check out some of the Home-Made Mask Recipes here!

Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba (31 Year Old) is an American television and film actress. Alba is considered a sex symbol. She appeared on the “Hot 100″ section of Maxim and voted number one on AskMen.Com’s list of “99 Most Desirable Women” in 2006, as well as “Sexist Woman In The World” by FHM in 2007.

2. Celebs know that no matter how exhausted they are, the bathroom sink is their best friend.
You should never, ever, go to sleep without washing away your make up or your face. “There are nights when I’m tired or bust with my daughter, but I do force myself to wash up and moisturize,” says Jessica Alba. In another word, don’t get into the habit of sleeping with your make up on.
p.s this includes mascara because your lases will break off if you sleep with a layer of black goop on them

Kim Kardashian

Kimberly Noel “Kim” Kardashian (32 Year Old) is an American socialite, television personality, model, actress and businesswoman. She is the face of “Kiss Away Poverty” campaign by Fusion Beauty & Seven Bar Foundation.

3. They clean their cell phones.
Here’s a fact you might not know: Your cell phone is a bacteria farm because you spend all day pressing your fingers and/or face to the pad. The dirt and oil in your face embeds itself on the keypad and then you smash that against your face. Once in awhile, take a alcohol swab, not dripping or you’ll spoil your phone, and disinfect.
Don’t harm your skin unknowingly, find out what are some of the factors!

Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (28 Year Old), better known by her stage name of Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and actress.
4. Go Green Tea!
Katy Perry is a great fan of green tea and products that contain this magical ingredient. In the past it’s no secret that the young singer struggled with acne. However, the ingredient managed to cleanse her complexion from zits. During the summer it is extremely important to consider the condition of our pores. In order to keep them clean and free from dirt and oil excess it is highly recommended to use a tonic that has this beneficial ingredient.
Find out more on how Green Tea is beneficial.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Mary Kidman, AC (45 Year Old) is an Australian actress, singer, film producer, spokesmodel, and humanitarian.
5. They avoid staying under the sun
Nicole Kidman is famously afraid of the sun. We can’t totally stay out of the sun, but she tries to stay out of it at all cost. In fact, many other celebrity simply avoid the sun by wearing hats, and slathering on sunscreen. Everyone knows that sun is the #1 cause of premature aging.
Find out what is the difference between Sunscreen & Sunblock.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Joanna Aniston (43 Year Old) is an American actress, film director, and producer.

6. Simple Tricks
She has her well-defined beauty routine, Jennifer claims that the secret to beautiful and kissable lips lies in a simple beauty trick. Every morning the actress puts half a teaspoon of sugar on her toothbrush. Pouring some water on it and scrubbing her lips with this mixture, creates a glamorous effect. Jennifer Aniston also swears on the ice pack method to refresh her complexion. After she wakes up she places these little bags on her eyes, keeping them for 10 minutes. A quick trick to hide dark circles and puffiness. As I did mentioned in my post here, taking good care of your skin today is going to benefit you not only for now, but for the many years to come.

Sharon Stone

Sharon Vonne Stone (54 Year Old) is an American actress, film producer, and former fashion model.

 7. Diet & Habits
Does Sharon even look like she’s in her 50s? No! The first thing you notice about Stone is that even without makeup, she appears preternaturally youthful for a woman about to hit the midcentury mark. “Not in that I’ve-had-my-entire-head-Botoxed way that so many women in Hollywood do, but like someone with enviably good genes who doesn’t smoke or drink coffee and probably does Pilates.” says Sharon.

Do you know what's more zun than horoscope readings?

It's the http://itsmyturn.sg/ quiz that determines what type of Singaporean you are.

To be honest, i NEVER expected myself to be surfing this site for a good whole hour but i found this initiative by Total Defense highly intriguing.

I answered the 10 quiz questions and found out my type. I am...
It was a total accurate prediction especially when i had a recent "encounter" on the MRT.

I was on the MRT one morning during peak hour and i took out my water bottle. A bespectacled lady glared at me fiercely from an arm's length away. She was dressed in an over sized green tee, jeans, carrying a haversack and clutching books. She had long curly hair like Maggi and looked the age of early 30s. Yes, i find it necessary to give a detailed description of her.

As i slowly uncapped my water bottle, as in slow motion, i saw her mouth opened and her brows frowned fiercer. She then spoke in a Mickey Mouse voice (ok, no she didn't), " Excuse me! You are not allowed to drink in the MRT!"

I looked at her, paused dramatically, took a swig from my bottle with a loud Ahhhhhhh Water! at the end. I could see her shooting fire balls from her eye balls, honestly.

I then felt obliged to explain my unruly behaviour (or rather for a moment i was afraid she was an undercover cop, like a fashion police) so i explained, "I am sick!" Perfect excuse for her to take pity and excuse my lawless behaviour.

She glared this time with lasers shooting from her eyes.
Paused and said with a drawl, "EVEN SO, YOU ARE NOT TO DRINK IN THE MRT. THERE ARE RULES AND RULES ARE TO BE ABIDE."

I looked at her, paused dramatically, took a swig from my bottle with a loud Ahhhhhhh Water! at the end.
"Well, you can continue abiding the rules while I'll be a rule breaker and i know I'll succeed in life nonetheless and maybe even better."

That shut her up while everyone else eavesdrop. I saw her taking out her mobile, for a moment my heart stopped thinking she's gonna tweet or worse, STOMP! me.

I figured if she does, i'll do this.
So yes, i am a Break The Law When There's No Choice Singaporean.
I'll drink in the MRT if i am choking on my own spit, or my future baby needs breastfeeding and she/he NEEDS TO DRINK.

Other than that, i AM an EXTREMELY, VERY law abiding goody two shoes Singaporean.

If that MRT lady who chided me did the http://itsmyturn.sg/ test, i bet she would get this result.

So what type are you?

There're hilarious options that makes the quiz very fun to do.
To be honest, it's true. Many Singaporeans will not lift a finger when they witness crime. I was in Geylang once having beef hor fun and there was a snatch thief. Everyone stared mouth hanging opening with hor fun coming out as they watched the old granny chased after the snatch thief.

To be honest, i was disappointed in the 2 males (mid 30s) i was with. In the end, it was a Blanga worker and a Malay who chased and caught the thief.

Kudos to the MRT lady who had the guts to tell me off. I DO DESERVE IT.

After finding out what type of Singaporean you are, you can look at what most Singaporeans are.
We ARE after all Chinese! Haha.

Eating anything edible  moving, Singapore is not just about chilli crabs. We've frog legs

as well as turtle soup.
It's My Turn calls on us as Singaporeans to do our part for the nation, not just to defend out Homeland, but as individuals imbued with strong social responsibilities to strengthen our common identity.

Every generation has the responsibility to make life better for themselves and for their next generation. What is our generation?

Is it one that is narcissistic and self-absorbed?

One who patiently and orderly queues for good food

new shops,

and freebies?
Our forefathers have completed their turn. Now it's ours.

We're the Social Media Generation, how can we leverage it to do something good? On the http://itsmyturn.sg/, you can participate by initiating an activity that will hopefully spread.

Be it contributing robustly to the economic well-being of the state, or simply lend a helping hand to a neighbour, we are taking the reins being passed to us to keep Singapore strong, safe and liveable for generations to come. What will you do when it's your turn to defend Singapore?

I know i sing Home with pride.

So go on, take the quiz at http://itsmyturn.sg, or look up community projects that you can participate in OR join their Twitter contest!
Did i mention i am also a Yau Gui Singaporean?

Do you dream of that tiara? I did.
My first larger-scale beauty pageant was Miss Singapore International when i was 20. It didn't teach me much but that i was told by Luke, the pageant trainer that i am fat at 47kg.

Then i joined Miss Earth when i was 24 but i had no advantage even though it was my second pageant. Tricks of the trade were not ingrained in my head yet.
Thus this post to aspiring beauty queens wannabe.

If you are planning to be a pageant runner, here's what you ought to invest in or get if you see them overseas where it's considerably cheaper than Singapore.

1) Transparent Heels elongate your calves, making you taller. They are difficult to find in Singapore and they are expensive ($70 and more).
I refused to purchase a new pair of heels and thus stood at a disadvantage to the taller girls who are even taller with those heels.

Compare No.10's legs and mine (No.18).

Extremely high heels is also needed to kick that long gown as you sashay around.

2) Chicken Fillets are necessary.
Chicken fillets gives you the boost that most Singaporean women need. You will usually starve on the big event day, so good to have the chicken fillets that you can pull out after to eat!

I'm joking! These are the pageant queens' chicken fillets.

Funnily, the above image is found from secretweapons.com.au, the secret weapon to obtain maximum fullness and softness!

No.2 chicken fillets are working extremely well. She stuck it on right.

Me? Disadvantaged, no chicken fillet, only fillet-o-fish.

You'll enter beauty pageants where all other contestants are regular pageant runners so they know all the tricks of the trade. I was extremely amused when at a outdoor shoot, we were asked to leap into the air for a happy jumping shot.

As we jumped, i spied out of the corner of my eye, someone's chicken fillet flew out!!!
It was someone from the right. I think it was No. 8 or 10 or 11. No one noticed it flew out except yours truly. Also because we had to jump numerous times, sand was kicked everywhere and soon it buried her chicken fillet. I had to discreetly slide over Missing Chicken Fillet girl after the photograph to tell her she's one boob short. She then had to discreetly feel around the mounds of sand to find where it's buried.

3) Exaggerated Bling Bling attracts judges' attention when the spotlight is on a group of girls. You have to OUTSHINE everyone!
I am the one on the extreme right with beige heels. No. 16 and even extreme left 14 outshone me.

Again, i was disadvantaged not knowing this trick of the trade. See below and the comparison of the contestant behind me.

4) Even Eyelashes need Bling
Pageant regulars stick on double falsies to make their eyes pop. Because without all that make-up, we really look like this.

5) Posing awkwardly is expected of a pageant runner. Notice the 3rd and 4th girl from the right at the bottom row, their hands are at the right positions and their feet form a perfect T. The last girl on the extreme right is over-doing it.

Me at a disadvantage, the only one who didn't pose like a tea pot. I tip toe though!

6) Beauty is subjective. Pageant participants are expected to sell tickets to their own show, starting from $50 to even $150 per ticket. Some without drinks or food even. You will also gain approval from the organizers if you purchase ads in the programme booklet that starts from $500 to $1000 for a full page.

Don't be disheartened if you didn't win. Often it takes some luck, some affinity and lots of money.

Are you saving much? I have always been a saver, but saving pennies and cents are so slow! Yet i am not a risk taker, so i don't dabble in volatile stocks. All these cash sitting in the local bank doing nothing yet earning 0.03% interest. That's $7.50 if you have $25,000 in savings.

That's not bad. At least i get to watch a FREE movie a year for putting my savings with a local bank.

We don't have to settle for less.

Standard Chartered has launched the Bonus$aver, a current account bundled with a credit card that boasts impressive savings rate of 1.88% p.a!

That's $470 interest earned for $25,000. That's 62 FREE movies a year!

Surely i rejoice!

The Bonus$aver account is equipped with the following features:

1. Customers receive 1.88% p.a. interest for the first S$25,000 of their deposit if they fulfill a monthly min.spend of $500 on the Bonus$aver credit/debit card.
2. Customers receive Bonus$aver prevailing interest on the remaining deposit amount that ranges 0.1-0.2% (still higher than the usual local bank!)
3. No minimum deposit amount

4. No lock-up period
5. Access to over 100 ATMS (I so need this! The default bank ALWAYS have a long queue! Especially on Mondays)

To be honest, i have heard from friends who have hunt around that Standard Chartered offers the best interests on savings. I am definitely going to find out more to get more money without doing anything!
To reinforce Bonus$aver, i was invited to fly high with iFly.
It was a fun experience however you spend much time hearing the briefing, getting suited up (30 mins) but only 30 seconds of flying. It was nothing like the real thing, but still i probably wouldn't pay so much for 30 seconds of flight. But if Bonus$aver lets me earn interest in the range of 1.88%, its flying free and more!
Flying high is alot about body, arm and leg coordination. If you straighten your back, you soar. The more you arch your back, you come crashing down. Most people panic and your arms will flail and their legs will kick (guy in red suit). Keep calm and fly on (me in blue!).

Advertorial

I've never been to Tasmania but here's why it's a destination on my list.

1) Scenery that puts you in awe
Cradle Mountain
2) Adventure
Tasmania is no lack of outdoor sports to try your hand at but what's unique, mysterious and definitely thrilling is the ghost tour of Port Arthur, ruins of a convict site. Have you read my post on outrageous prison demands?
3) Exotic Animals
The orange bellied parrots are endangered and found in Melaleuca.
Orange bellied parrot chicks.
Wildlife can be found, not necessary in zoos or parks. Look at this giant squid washed up on Tasmania's shores in 2007. Imagine if you met one while diving...
The chance to win a $10,000 holiday for 2 is ending on Friday!
