Hello Again, Hong Kong and Hi, Shenzhen!

I haven't really talked about this trip I had last December 30-January 2. Actually, this was the most difficult trip I've ever had abroad. Aside from my pregnancy, several factors affected my total satisfaction with the trip: the cold weather in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the bad hotel we had at Shenzhen, the delay of Philippine Airline's flight PR 311 from 10PM-12:30AM, and the food in Shenzhen. The best trip for me is still the Hong Kong trip I had last 2009 with my parents. Best hotels (we stayed inside Disneyland--Hollywood Hotel), great food, nice flight and I was single. Just kidding about the last part ;)

I had the chance to write this today as I was finishing my Photobooks for the trips I had in 2012. I bought 2 vouchers from Groupon last year and the purpose of it was really for these trips. The idea of having the voucher came from my sisters-in-law, who had already bought so much and gave us vouchers for my son's 2nd birthday. I had to try the software in my Windows PC before, and it was user-friendly. Now, for my Mac, I downloaded the software and it was way better than last year. I also love the readybooks that I used. Photobook Worldwide has the best selection and also easy transaction for people who aren't artistic like me.

We welcomed the New Year for the first time in a foreign land and it wasn't as good as Philippine New Year with all the fireworks across the neighborhood. Although I must say, the fireworks display at Hong Kong Disneyland around 9PM is probably something I would always have in my dear memory. It was so wonderful. :D But yeah, I didn't like Mainland China that much. I don't like the "Kung fu toilet" and the reception of the people there to tourists. The Shenzhen Immigration is still scary, BUT, I must say their service is fast. 

I just couldn't stand the cold inside the hotel. I have been to Baguio before, but it was on a summer so it wasn't as cold as 6 degrees celsius. But anyway, the hotel has no air conditioner to warm us up nor temperature control. The staff also spoke only a few English words and generally almost everyone except the tourguide do not speak English. It's way better in Hong Kong.

2012 is my "Travel Year"

This is a collection of all tagged photos in Facebook that I chose to represent my 2012 travels. Not in chronological order. We went to several local destinations this year (actually, I'm having 2 more local trips this month. One in Anilao, Batangas for my MS 1 Field Trip and a Davao trip with my kumare Emma), and an international trip to Singapore. By New Year's day next year, we will be staying at Hong Kong for our baby's first international travel. He actually got his passport when he was 6 months, and we didn't have the chance to bring him abroad until now that he's 2 years old. 

This is the beachfront of Astoria Bohol. I love their service, meals, and of course the free wifi :D On our last night, we had a flying lantern experience. 

Photo taken by my sister-in-law in our trip to Bohol last June 7-10. My parents-in-law have a membership with  Club Astoria and we took the 4-day vacation at Astoria Bohol, one of the latest hotels there. Behind me and my husband is the Chocolate Hills view from Sagbayan Peak.

Ilocos Day 2 at Pagudpud beach :) My son Jethro is scared of the sea water and tells me that the sand is "dirty". It's his first time to the sea and I hope he enjoys the beach on our next trip.

This photo was taken in an old church in Ilocos. The sun is still hot at around 4 pm when we just got into Ilocos Norte enduring a 9-hour trip courtesy of Travellers Journey Travel and Tours. Our trip in Ilocos was from April 2-4.

This was taken somewhere in Corregidor in front of Mc Arthur's statue. We had this tour last March 31, as soon as my aunt from Canada came to visit. Day tour courtesy of Sun Cruises Philippines. I learned additional info about the Japanese occupation here.

We headed to the 17th Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark, Pampanga last February 9-12 and stayed at Hotel Stotsenberg.

This is one of our rare group pictures in Singapore last May 26-29. We had this photo taken at Universal Studios (Mummy attraction).

This shot was taken on our trip to Balay Indang in Cavite. In this photo is my husband's eldest sister's family (2 children and hubby), youngest brother Lakan and our family. We stayed overnight and ate lots of organic food :) very refreshing trip. 

Last April 8-9 was our trip to Boracay and we experienced Zorb. It's my first time to do it, so is my husband. I bought this deal at Groupon for a cheap price.

The Groupon deal includes Helmet diving and ATV (but we rode a Buggy instead because there are too many people using it at that time).

Our trip was sponsored by my Aunt Ofelia as her 2nd year wedding anniversary gift for us. It was a great but short experience. I wish we could go back very soon!

Flicker

No, this is not about the site Flickr (yes, less the e, I know) but about the word itself. Flickering light is good to watch, but not at all times. You can’t actually tell if it will eventually light up of not. Or you could be alarmed if it will evolve into a larger fire and eventually burn you up alive.

Tonight, the moon is round. I don’t know if it really is a full moon or just waning gibbous that’s near to the full moon. Me and Shabuchan played underneath the moonlight. The hand sanitizer did not do much help as I try to eliminate Shabutaro’s smell in my fingers. Aw. This is way too harsh.

Anyway, back to my first topic, I was wondering if things like flickering right now would do me any good or help me throughout my life. I am confused in what’s going on around me, so much that I have to stop for some time and analyze what’s really happening. I think I must devote time to reflection and meditation.

And for that conclusion, I will do it now. Ta taa!

2009 Wishlist

Howdy! 2008 has been a very lucky, happy, blessed, whatever you call it year for me. In fact, I was thinking that 2009 would be horrible because of this.

So in any case, I am stating this or rather NEXT year's wishlist. It or it could not be fulfilled like what happened in 2008. Of course I wish things would go as well as 2008.



1. Upgrade Mr-PC-Reborn. Yeah, this has been in the 2008 wishlist, but then... forget it. haha. I think it's impossible.

1. External Hard Drive- to avoid the stack of DVDs in my room. They're outgrowing me-- my height, that is.


2. Blu-Ray Drive- Hmn, this is expensive. Nah, it shall be on my list.

3. Another mobile phone- Am I quite demanding? Haha, I still need one for my SMART sim. ^_^

4. ... This will be updated later on.



Okay, let's go back to my wishlist last year to identify what happened really... ciao!

Christmas Day at Star City

It was as early as 7 am when we left our house. Our destination was at Quezon City in my Ninang Nina's house. We were supposed to meet there and spend the rest of our Christmas day at Star City. After some talking and lunch, we left at exactly 11 AM for Star City.

We kinda got lost on our way there. We splitted ways, something like that. It turned out that the shortcut my dad took at Balintawak stuck us in traffic somewhere in Manila. Anyway, after some time, we arrived and bought our tickets and that.

Rides were of course the main thing we're in there, and the Snow World. Mikee and me are the only ones riding the rides since the adults don't feel like going for fear of nausea and the like. We had a lot of screaming and laughing together as we rode the Rollercoaster and the Surf Dance. The final ride, which got me a bit dizzy was the Flying Carpet. Overall, the rides got me a bit scared, especially the Surf Dance.

Then after eating, we proceeded at the long queue to the Snow World. The queue was so long, it came all throughout the vicinity of Star City. It took us an hour for the queue, but it was worth it. The said negative 15 degrees of coldness really got me. My ears and nose are so cold. Good thing the coat I was wearing was long enough to cover my fingers. I had my picture taken inside of it:

And so, this ended my 2008 Christmas Escapade. It was fun, and I loved what happened the whole day. My energy was drained, but it's worth it. I can't stay late tonight because of tiredness... :)
